Awards...

The first Robert Cahn Award was awarded at NuMat 2010. The award has been created to honour this highly respected materials scientist who was also one of the founding editors of the Journal of Nuclear Materials, the sponsor of the conference. The first recipient was Professor Steve Zinkle who delivered the keynote lecture on the “Foundations of Radiation Effects on Materials for Nuclear Energy Systems”.

To promote the active participation of young researchers (under 35 years old) to the NuMat2010 conference, the organisation also awarded prizes for the best young scientist oral and poster presentations. Yue FAN won the award for best oral presentation and Mariya YURECHKO for best poster presentation.

In keeping with the conference venue – ZKM: Karlsruhe’s Centre for Art and Media – we also appealed to the creative side of the participants and held a NumART competition, for this we asked competitors to combine their creativity with the field of Nuclear Materials. The winner of this award was Olivier Dugne.
